Livestream Event: Belonging - Middle Grade Author Panel
Join Annie Bloom's Books for a livestream event with middle grade authors Waka Brown (While I was Away), Kathleen Lane (Pity Party), Susan Hill Long (The Care and Keeping of Freddy), Rosanne Parry (A Whale of the Wild) and Kate Ristau (Clockbreakers series). The authors will discuss the theme of belonging: how kids search for and maintain connections, and how the books they read explore and support those connections too. This event is free and open to all ages.

Waka T. Brown's While I Was Away is an empowering middle grade memoir from debut author Waka T. Brown, who takes readers on a journey to 1980s Japan, where she was sent as a child to reconnect to her family’s roots.
Kathleen Lane's Pity Party is an "absurd, funny, and thought-provoking" book perfect for "anyone who has ever felt socially awkward or inadequate" (Louis Sachar, author of Holes and the Wayside School series).
Susan Hill Long's The Care and Keeping of Freddy is a sweet and funny middle grade novel about a young girl, her pet bearded dragon, and the friends who make her summer one to remember.
Rosanne Parry's A Whale of the Wild is an animal adventure novel that explores family bonds, survival, global warming, and a changing seascape.
Kate Ristau's Clockbreakers series is about a girl stuck in a Greek myth, on an action-packed adventure with a mission: to save her father, and perhaps even save the world.
