John Bonner is trying hard to cope with his new role as exploiter of a motley crew of low-paid workers at his prosperous family business. About the Author

Nancy Zafris won The Flannery O'Connor award for short fiction and Ohioana Library Association award for her first book, The People I Know. She has been published in numerous literary magazines, including The Missouri Review, Antioch Review, and New England Review. She is the fiction editor of The Kenyon Review and lives with her husband and son. This is her first novel.
